![]() ![]() John O’Neill who introduced 3 TY students Darragh O’Byrne, Joe Neill and David O’Gorman and their brainchild ‘ Ecoploring’. The TY Choir followed with ‘ Joshua’ which brought us to Mr. ![]() A series of students read these letters ’in character’ which made for a very entertaining piece of drama indeed. Against the backdrop of a powerpoint of images of the Titanic tragedy Jack Eustace narrated the story which was structured around a series of actual letters that were recovered after the sinking of the ship. There followed a TY Drama interlude called ‘ Titanic’. We wish them a safe and successful pilgrimage. The boys will be accompanied to France by Ms. Colleton was lavish in her praise for the self-sacrifice and hard work of each of the young men involved namely Hugh Lennon, Bill Cuddihy, Ben Langton, Rory Brosnan, Mark O’Neill, Calvin O’Brien and David O’Brien. Ms Anna Colleton was the next speaker to address the audience when she introduced the Lourdes Pilgrimage team who have raised almost €6,000 to defray the costs of travelling to Lourdes at the end of May to assist in looking after a group of elderly people from the Ossory Diocese. Prior to this Jack had little or no experience in this field and TY has possibly opened a new door for this talented young man. The highlight for Jack was obviously winning the ‘Best Acting Performance’ Award at the Briery Gap TY Drama Finals in Macroom. One would not have thought this as this budding thespian confidently delivered a most eloquent account of what TY meant to him. Jack openly admitted that this was his first public speech. Morrissey congratulated all the students for their input and enthusiasm and called on TY student Jack Eustace to recount his own personal experience of the TY phenomenon. He emphasised the satisfaction derived from observing the progress of many of the TY students throughout the year as they grew in confidence with every step of the way. Morrissey reflected on the year gone by he alluded to the importance of pro-activity, independent thinking and taking the initiative, core elements in the development of young people that are more significant than ever in the difficult recessionary times we live in. Morrissey also cordially welcomed everyone and particularly the Guest Speaker for the night Mr. ![]() Gerard Morrissey who outlined the timetable for the evening to the large gathering of parents, guardians and relatives of the 2013 TY cohort. TY student Eoin Croghan then introduced TY Co-ordinator Mr. Jim Murphy followed with an Opening Prayer and his fond reminiscences of the TY Bavaria Trip in February this year. Proceedings were opened by the TY Choir with a lovely rendition of ‘ Black is the Colour’. CBS Kilkenny held its Annual TY Awards Night on Thursday 16th May in the school Gymnasium. ![]()
